Malingering PTSD

Course Information

Ideal for forensic practitioners, this course will identify areas to focus on and how to assess while reducing or identifying malingering.   Malingering of PTSD is the intentional production of false or grossly exaggerated physical and/or psychological symptoms associated with the diagnosis of PTSD in order to obtain external incentives (e.g., financial and/or personal gains).

This course seeks to aid clinicians in differentiating true PTSD from malingered PTSD. Characteristics of true PTSD and malingered PTSD are described, and a multimodal approach for evaluating PTSD that aids clinicians in identifying those individuals who are malingering the illness is provided.
