Hi, I'm Marty!

Your new bestie, because only a BFF is going to tell it to you straight 100% of the time.

If you’re tired of other therapists just staring at you while you pour your heart out for an hour and nothing changes, and you’re ready for a fun and transformative experience with a queer, neurodivergent friendly therapist to help you get through the S***. Look no further, Marty is here.

I’ve done all the therapy myself and I know just how exhausting it can be telling your story over and over to therapists and nothing changes. I’m here to tell you the cold, hard truth and help you make the changes you need to be obsessed with your life. I’ve got the tools to help you with trauma, gender dysphoria, personality disorders, mood disorders, neurodivergence issues, depression, anxiety, and more.

My core values are transparency and authenticity. I curse too much, eat way too much cheese for someone who is lactose intolerant, and am absolutely in love with helping others on their mental health journey. If this jives for you, let’s chat.

My Story

I met my first therapist when I was 14, after six months he declared me ready to quit therapy because I was “so insightful” and could easily express what was wrong.

But he didn’t actually help me fix anything, I still didn’t understand why I was creating so many problems in my own life, how to stop, or get better.

It wasn’t until I was in my 20’s in grad school myself, trying to learn everything I could about psychology and mental health so I could finally fix what was wrong that I figured out why so many of my past therapists had failed me.

So many of my counseling classes focused on how to help your client gain insight, identify the problem, identify their role in creating the problem, in maintaining the problem. But not once were we really taught what to do AFTER. It was just widely accepted that the goal of most therapy is to gain insight, and in gaining insight the client will be able to solve all their own problems.

The problem with this ideology is that neurodivergent folks already know the problem. From day one we’ve been identifying the problem. Normal therapy theories just weren’t designed for us. That’s when I began to seek out other methods, the stuff that isn’t taught in school. I found so many amazing modalities that finally go beyond just “gaining insight”.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Over the past five years, I have met countless people who have tried over and over again with dozens of therapists, hoping to find help who have told me that during our first few sessions they’ve gained more than in years with other therapists. The research agrees, that clients with person-centered therapists report better outcomes and higher satisfaction (Cloninger & Cloniger, 2011).  So what are you waiting for?

My Therapy Process

01. Meet & Greet

Choosing the right therapist can be tricky (and expensive), let’s have a virtual coffee break together before our first session and check the vibes.

02. Identify Problem & Goals

We’ll meet for 60-90 minutes for our first appointment to ensure we have plenty of time to complete a comprehensive diagnositic assessment and choose what our focus will be for future sessions.

03. Work, Work, Work

After our intake, we’ll meet for 50-minute sessions weekly, biweekly, or monthly depending on your needs and budget. I may also recommend other services as needed, such as psychiatry, group therapy, or nutritional support.

Whether you’ve never been to therapy before or this is your 100th attempt, I can help you at whatever stage you’re at.

How I Can Help You

My areas of expertise include assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of LGBTQA+ issues, neurodivergent clients, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, self-harm, suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety, and burnout.
